Why do my diagram objects stretch horizontally and range right?

All,

I have saved two Visio drawings.
On re-opening each file the objects (connectors and process boxes) stretch
horizontally across the page and range way over to the right, way off the
printed page footprint.

When I say stretch horizontally, I mean the object height says as required
but it's width is increased by about 3000% of the original. In other words a
standard process box is lengthened to about two page widths and it flies over
to the right by about 3-15 page lengths depending on the object's relative
position on the A4 sheet.

This is really annoying as to re-position and re-size takes longer than
starting from stratch plus I shoudn't have to do this every time a open up
the file!

FYI...I'm using swimlanes (Functional Bands) which remain unaffacted

Any solutions greatly received...this is driving me nuts!!!

What version of Visio are you working with? I remember seeing an issue like
this in Visio 2002, and I believe it was corrected in a service pack.

Oh but a temporary fix is to either:

1 - copy the diagram into excel (pasting as visio format form paste special)
or

2 - creating an extra tab at the start (i use it as a basic header)...if you
ensure you save whilst on this first page then it seems to work ok when you
next open the file...
