Why does the start date change when I import from Excel?

I am importing an Excel worksheet. The date column has been formated for
date (7/5/06). Once imported into Project, the date shows as 7/4/02. The
dates are consistently off by 4 years and 1 day. Any ideas?

Hi Peggy,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup

Firstly, you shouldn't be importing dates - that's for Project to calculate,
and I suspect that's what's happening. You should enter durations and
predecessors leaving Project to calculates the schedule for you. Have you
set in Project/Project Information your project's Start Date?
