Why doesn't Microsoft PowerPoint open when I click on it?

When I click on the icon, or go to the start menu to open up powerpoint, it
doesnt open open. Why is this happening, and what can I do to fix it?

If it was a version that was on your computer when you bought it, it was a
trial version that has expired.
If it is version you purchased and installed, then you could try
re-installing it.

Which operating system?
Has PPT worked in the past?
