Why "Nondefault working time" does not work?

Ahmet Gunes

Hello,

For a specific resource I try to change the status of a weekend to
"Nondefault working time".
Although in the "Resource Information" dialog everything seems ok, I still
can not assign a task to that resource for weekends.
I use the same calendar both for the task and the resource.

Can anybody help?

Thanks,

AHMET

AHNET,
Your post says you "tried" to make the weekends as working time for that
specific resource. Well, is it or is it not? Does the Working Time tab
of the Resource Information dialogue for that resource show weekends as
"nondefault working time"?

Did you assign that resource to a task that bridges a weekend? What
makes you think that resource is not assigned for weekend work on
his/her tasks (look at the Resource Usage view)?

Hello John,

In the Resource Information dialog everything seems ok. That's the weekend
is marked as nondefault working time.
When I try to assign a task to a resource for this weekend I get the message
"You moved 'Task xxx' to a nonworking day".

Thanks,

AG

Hi,

A task calendar is a badse calendar, a resourece calendatr is not.
So it's a bit suspect when you say you use the same for both.
Isn't the task calendar the project calendar which gives nonworking time
that weekend?

Ahmet,
Actually it's the other way around, resources are assigned to tasks,
tasks aren't assigned to resources. How exactly did you make the
assignment? The normal way is to select the task and then bring up the
Assign Resources window (two heads icon or Tools/Assign Resources).

If indeed you created a custom calendar for that resource and made
his/her weekends working days, then that resource can be assigned to any
task and weekends will be shown as working even if the task itself has a
normal calendar (i.e. weekends are non-working time). However also
changing the task calendar to make weekends working time will be more
consistent.
