Why Office 2003 SP3

B

Bob

I have never had Office2003 on this laptop. I've only had Office2007. Why
does the microsoft update want to install Office2003 SP3?

It is normal to be offered this when Office Web Components is installed.
(its other applications that can install this piece from Office XP/2003).

You have some component from Office 2003 installed. It is then normal for the update to show up

Have you had Visio, or Project, etc.? That would also do it. Outlook Web
Access could also cause that.

Outlook Web Access would not trigger this as it is a part of Exchange, not Office.

Perhaps you mean the Office Web Components?

Hi. I have Office Enterprise 2007, as well as Office Project Pro 2007 and
Office Visio Pro 2007 installed. I unknowingly installed the Office 2003 SP3
Update as I have my system set for Updates to be automatically downloaded and
installed. Vista does not give me the option to uninstall this update through
the control panel/Programs and Features/view installed updates....??? Do you
know how I can uninstall this update? If not, is it ok just to leave it
installed? Thanking you in advance.

Should be fine as there are other applications/tools that can install the
Office 2003 Web Components.

By the way, Office 2003 SP3 is a valid update for Office 2003 Web
Components.

Hi Neo. Thank you, I will just leave it installed and hope it doesn't cause
problems later. Best regards
