Why will the duration not change

C

Ciarcon

I have a task that is set to 10 days work, Its Fixed Units, with Effort
Driven ticked.
I have allocated 1 resource to this task at 100%.
The allocated resource, using standard calander, also has 4 days none
working time during the period of the task. Hence I would expect work to be
10 days, and duration to be 14 days (10 days for task + 4 days none working
time). Heres the thing, the Gantt bar has changed to reflect this, the
duration field hasnt.

Any Ideas?

I've tried changing to all the task types and checking/unchecking the effort
driven box, all to no avail.

Hi Ciarcon ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Duration is a measure of the working time between start and finish, not the
elepsed time. So, in this particular case, 10 days work is the same as 10
days duration, as the resource is working full time. It would , of course,
be different if 2 resources were working full time whence Duration would
still be 10 days but work would be 20 days. You might like to see my
tutorials indicated in my sig.
