Why won't my selected background show up in my document?

I have selected a background color for my document and when I go to look at
print preview and even when I print my background is not showing up. What can
I do?

In Word versions through Word 2002, backgrounds cannot be printed. They are
for Web pages only and display only in Web Layout view. To create a printing
background, you must create a watermark. In Word 2002 and 2003, you can do
this through Format | Background | Printed Watermark. For earlier versions,
see “HOW TO: Create a Watermark in Microsoft Word 2000†(generally
applicable to earlier versions as well) at
