Windows Installer to open a Word document on desktop?

I have XP Professional and have Word documents saved on my desktop. Suddenly
to open a word document, I get a Windows Installer window, and a request to
insert a "Microsoft Office XP Standard disk" to open the Word document. Of
course I do not have the disk and this is a new message. How to correct? Thx.

What do you mean "of course, I don't have the disk..." - why not?
