Windows Installer

I'm running Windows XP with Office XP and every time I
start Word or Excel I get a window that pops up titled:
Windows Installer with a message "Preparing to install"
and then starts the program. The program appears to run
ok but I feel that I shouldn't be getting that window
every time. I've seen some posts about changing Registry
values, but that had to do with a "Missing patch" error.
What should I do?

Btw... I have Office SP1 installed but not SP2 if this
makes a difference.

I followed some instructions I found for deleting Patches
in the registry and it has seemed to solve the problem.
