Everytime i restart my comp, windows installer runs trying to install
something off of office XP.....even when i run MS Word, windows installer
runs. I just discovered that I opened Outlook and it ran again! Do i got a
virus or can I turn this off somehow!

p.s. I have run the command services.msc to see windows installer
running.....status is Started and the Start up type is Manual ....... but it
still runs for some reason at start up and when i run outlook and MS
Word.....

Check what is in your startup menu at msconfig( click
START then RUN and type MSCONFIG and look up the STARTUP
items which are ticked ). I had the same problem with
installing IE6 and found an entry - Installing IE6 - in
STARTUP.By unticking this item I overcame the problem.
Hope this helps.

Hi I have tried this suggestion but when I tick off ms office, in the
general tab: it goes from selecting "Normal Startup" to automatically
selecting "Selective Startup"...when the machine reboots, a dialogue box
appears stating sumthin about selective startup.....point is why cant i have
a normal startup without having ms office....
why is it there in the startup list anyway??? how did it get there.......and
how can i simply remove it.....or would that be bad.......
