Windows not maximized

I have shortcuts of web pages on my desktop, when I open them, they are not
maximized. I maximize them, close the window (this should make them stay
maximized) but they dont. If I open IE, that is fine, it is only with
shortcuts. This just started happen. anyway to fix the problem?

Go to Start > Programs > Microsoft Office and right-click
on one of your Office programs, such as Word. Then
select Properties and from the drop-down selection next
to the Run box, select Maximized and click Apply.
