I have several .wmv video clips encoded with windows
media 9. The clips play fine in windows media player.
When I try to drop the file into a powerpoint slide the
file is seen only as audio. video will not play. any
ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks red

My first inclination would be to check my MCI settings in the registry.
See the screenshots in section 3 at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm for
specifics on what they should have in there. Make sure you have PPT
closed when you do this.

I had this same problem last week, and to be honest, I'm not sure
exactly what fixed it. Right after I changed my MCI settings, the WMVs
still just gave me audio, but shortly thereafter, they played. It was
quite strange, to say the least. So you might try rebooting after
changing your registry. Dunno if it will help or not, but it won't hurt.

Do you all have QuickTime installed? Try reinstalling WMP
and accept file association defaults.
