Won't Complete MS Office Pro 2003 Install

My progress bar while installing MS Office Professional Enterprise Edition
2003 is getting stuck at a certain point - "writing system registry" (there's
another word in there I can't remember) - and after waiting, a box pops up
and says it's not responding. When I click on retry, the same thing happens.

I can't uninstall because it hasn't finished installing in first place, and
I haven't found a way cancel the current installation - it always asks if I
want to continue, and if I press cancel, it simply ends the program.

I've tried this numerous times - sometimes after rebooting my comp. - and
it's always the same. I had already installed it successfully once, then
uninstalled because I didn't finish the installation with the updates
properly. Why isn't it working now? Is there any way I can fix it? Any
feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

When I installed the Clean-up, it let me start from scratch with Office
install. However, I had the same problem again when I tried to reinstall. I
didn't remove anything with clean-up though; the only items I found for MS
were .NET frame and MS Works, which I didn't think were related. But if
those might be cause, or if anything else in the list could be related (there
were many I didn't recognize), let me know! Thanks much for suggestion!

Try doing msconfig once. It could be possible that you have some softwares
like webroot anti spyware which is preventing from writing to registry.
click on start >run>MSCONFIG
On the services tab, click on the check box for "hide all microsfot services".
Then click on "disable all".
On the start up tab, click on "disable all".
Restart and try installation.

good luck
