Won't read installation CD

C

Catherine Simonsen

I am trying to update Office using the online update
link. During the installation, it asks me to insert my
original installation CD, "Office 2000." I insert the CD
(Office 2000 Small Business), and a message appears
telling me that it cannot find the required "Microsoft
Office 2000 Standard" file on the CD. Therefore, it
cannot carry through with the installation.

Meanwhile, periodically, when I press "save" to save my
document, an error occurs and Word has to close, losing
any information before saving. Unless I get this update,
I assume Word will continue to have this problem.

Any suggestions?

Hi, Catherine,

It's obviously looking for an Office Standard CD. If you look in the
Windows Control Panel, you can see what version(s) of Office are installed.
Uninstall the ones you don't need, and then try the update again.

Or, if you think you have the incorrect Office CD, try to get the original
one that was used to set up your system.
