Word 08 documents take long time to open

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC

Every time I open a document (when word 08 is already open) it takes at least 10 seconds or longer for the document to open on my screen. My computer does not have any other problems with slowness or other Office products.

The first troubleshooting steps are usually:

1- Make sure the OS (10.5.8) & Office (12.2.1) are fully updated,

2- Run Disk Utility (or comparable) Repair Disk Permissions, &

3- Restart the Mac.

Confirm that this has been done but if it doesn't improve the situation
reply with any additional details you can supply.

Such as the amount of memory, the amount of free disk space, and the type of
antivirus you are running.

This has the hallmarks of a computer that is "out of resources".

Which other programs are you comparing it with? Word is probably the
largest and most complex and most powerful program on you Mac (it is on most
people's...)

Comparing it with Pages is a little unfair: Pages will be nice and quick on
any machine because it doesn't do much so it doesn't need much. Word is the
most powerful word processor there is, and it requires a fair bit from the
hardware to make it run right.

Hope this helps
