I'm with you. I prefer DVD copies that I can store where I want.

Clouds are for looking at and using your imagination. They were never meant
for data storage;-)

The online help is a lazy way of providing "support" which is at best of
dubious value. If a program can be updated online to your local machine so
can the help files that are much less complicated.

Give me the old fashioned paper manual any day. There I could use Post It
notes and highlighters to mark important stuff and I could read the
instructions while munching on my lunch while sitting under a tree in a
park.

Furthermore, you could read the manual while *at the same time* seeing the
screen so you could follow/refer to help & directions w/o having to either
memorize/record/print them or do a lot of flipping back & forth between
windows.

Ironic when the video is one promoting online apps!

Indeed, and Microsoft just don't seem to get it at all.

You sure have that right and the illustrations of what you should be seeing
were a great help too.

I am finding that the help files now say to do something but leave you
hanging on just how you are supposed to actually accomplish what you are
supposed to do. The assumption is that you are familiar with what they are
talking about which if true, you wouldn't be there looking for help in how
to do what you have looked up....just plainly dumb.

Last night, I wanted to refresh my memory on document protection in Word and
ended up with instructions for Excel.....now that was a real
help.........not.

Unfortunately, it is a blight that has hit the whole industry.

Have you ever tried to install and upgrade to an ATI video driver? Unless
you stumble upon the instruction (well hidden at last look) to uninstall the
old driver, you could go bonkers trying to get the new driver installed.
Adobe and Norton are no better with one having to download special
uninstallers to completely get rid of their programs.

I'm getting off topic but I think that the point is more or less clear.
