Word 2002 & formating

When formating a word in Word 2002 all the text take the
same format. If I select a word and put it in bold all
the rest of the document appears in bold!
Someone knoes how to solve this issue?

Click "Format", "Styles and formatting". In the Taskpane to the right,
scroll down until you find the "Normal" style. Click inside the style and a
dropdown arrow will appear. Click "Modify". Uncheck the "Automatically
update" checkbox. That ought to do it.
