Word 2003 Crashing

I am using MS Word 2003 on a new Dell computer. However, the program keeps
shutting down ... all by itself. Any idea why this might be happening ?

In all probability the template for new docs, normal.dot, is corrupt.
Do a search for this template (making sure that you are searching in
hidden folders because that's where it is) by pressing Win key+F. You
may have more than one copy of it. Delete or rename all copies while
Word is not open. When you reopen Word it will be unable to find
normal.dot so it will create a new uncorrupted copy.

If this doesn't work, get back.
