Word 2003 Drag and Drop

Hi:

In Word 2003 if I use the "open" button to look for files, I found that
sometimes I could move files around by dragging and dropping while other
times I could not. If I open Word and then click "open" I cannot drag.
However, if I open Word and then click another program on my task bar and
then go back to Word and click "open" I am able to drag files. Is this the
same for everyone else and does anyone know a fix. Thanks so much, Kent

Kent - the purpose of "drag and drop" is to move a file from one location to
another. If you only have Word open, you cannot drag and drop because there
isn't anyplace else to move it to (although if you have Word partially
minimized, so that you can see the Desktop as well, you will notice that you
can drag and drop the Word file to your Desktop).

As far as a "fix", perhaps if I understood WHY you are wanting to drag and
drop files, I could help you find a solution.

Hope this was helpful

Hi JK:

Thanks for your help. I often move my word files to a folder or from one
folder to another. I realize I can do this outside of word in My Documents
but that is an extra step. Word is not the only program open. Cut and
paste also doesn't work unless like the drag and drop, I click on another
program in my task bar first. Then it works. Thanks again, Kent
