word 2003 freezes when inserting picture

Word 2003 freezes when trying to insert a picture file from the network!

I can insert picture files from the local machine but as soon as i try to
insert a picture stored on the network Word freezes and stops responding.

No idea why this is happening. Only happening to one user in the network.
She has connectivity and Outlook, Excel Etc work fine.

A resolution would be great.

It is a brand new machine out of the box. Why would the iternet cache crash
word when trying to insert a picture file which is stored on the server?
