Word 2003 - Show XML Tags

How can I turn this off by default? I know I can turn them on and off using
crtl+shift+X but I need them off by default. Can anyone help??

Hi Jeremy,

There doesn't appear to be a 'sticky' setting through
the U.I., the registry or in the Office 11 .ADM policy
settings.

You could create an AutoOpen macro that
would execute when you open any Word document.

For VBA, the command is ActiveWindow.View.ShowXMLMarkup = wdToggle
(or you can use = "True" to always force on, or ="False" to
always force off). When used with a non XML document it would
have no visible effect.

In visualizing your scenario, I'd probably be a bit leary
personally of opening an XML document
in Word and editing it without seeing the tags and being sure
I was typing changes in the 'right elements' <g>. Could you
describe your situation as where having the tags off is
preferred in Word's XML Data view?

You may also want to ask the folks in the Office XML newsgroup
if they have a different method
