Word 2003 track changes accept all not saving

Hi

'Accept All' changes doesn't seemed to be saving.

After choosing 'Accept All', all the changes seem to take affect. All the
'colour' is gone.

I save and close the file.

I then open the file. Track changes sees exactly the same changes that I had
just accepted.

Oddly, this is only happening in some documents.

Word 2003 on Windows XP

Could the kind of protection be turned on that allows you to (appear
to) edit the file but doesn't save the changes?
