I can't seem to set track changes to show the author of a deleted text by
merely mousing over the deleted or added text or even in the call out
balloons. Comments are credited to the author but not the changes. I am
using Office 2003 SP1 on XP. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Tools - Options - View, and see if Screen Tips is checked under the Show
settings.
