Mic.Eberk89

I left-click on the .doc file and click on "Open with"... i search
WINWORD.EXE in the programs, and i select it as default... but nothing
changes... when i double click on a file nothing happens... I tried to make
the "microsoft office diagnostic" but it says that's all ok...

thank you and excuse me for my bad english...

Hello Mic,

Your English is fine! But you've landed in a discussion group for users of
Mac versions of Word (not your fault: it's the fault of Microsoft's web
interface, which you used). Mac versions differ variously from PC versions.
Although several people here use both PCs and Macs and may give you an
answer soon, it's likely that more people in a PC group have experienced
your specific problem. Here's where all the groups are listed:

Hi Mic:

Is this ALL .doc files? Or just one?

If you start Word 2007, then use Open from the Microsoft Office button (the
pizza button...) will the document open then?

I am trying to find out if Word 2007 opens at all on your machine, and
whether the .doc you are opening really is a .oc.

Cheers

Yes, ALL .doc file... Word opens .docx without problem...
If i use "Open" from the pizza button (ahahah, i'm italian and that DOESN'T
seem a pizza ^^) Word2007 open all kinds of file without any problem... but
it take for me a lot of time to open all the files from over there...

Thanks

Hi Mic:

OK, that's good. We have proved that Word is working OK, and the problem is
in your operating system.

Now: The operation you already tried (right-click and Open With...) should
have corrected the problem. Which means that your login does not have the
authority to make that change.

You must either logon as "Administrator" or find someone who can.

Cheers

I'm the administrator of this pc!
this problem seems to appear only with this program... if i try to open the
file with another program... (randomly... to try) it appears in the "Open
with" box, and only after it says that it cannot open the file...
with WINWORD.EXE all this doesn't happen!!
:(

Yeah. The issue you have is that your change to your file associations to
associate Word with the .doc format is not being written back to the
registry.

Sorry, but this is a registry permissions problem. And it is particular to
Word 2007 and your operating system. This group is for Macintosh Word.

You need to ask again, here:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.pu
blic.word.application.errors&lang=en&cr=US

I have cross-posted for you.

Cheers

You seem to have missed the first reply (from Clive Huggan) to your original
post... This group is for Word on the Macintosh. Yours is a Windows issue.
Both Clive & John McGhie have provided you with links in the right direction
- John has even cross-posted your message to the correct group for you. You
might do well to check in there:

Sorry - I failed to notice the multiple addresses in the header & Terry's

My apologies!

Terry asked you a question: what's the answer?

Cheers

Hi Mic,
how does Word behave if you try to run in under a new windows profile.
Control panel> accounts>new
Make one with admin privileges and try to open such problematic files
there. If the problems is solved there that means John is right, the
information about program association is not re-written into Windows
registry.
