I am writing a large (+100pages) document in Word 2007 with lots of graphics
from Excel. The file got to the 50Mb very quickly as I started to add the
charts. Is there a way to reduce the file size?
I do not want to have a dynamic link to the excel file because I want the
graphs to be locked (I may change the excel file and I may use filters), but
I need the chart to have good graphics (I do not need to edit it within word)
and to be able to scale it as needed. Ideally I would like to duplicate the
"copy as shown on screen" in old Excel and paste it as "Microsoft Enhanced
Metafile" which did not seem to bloat files as much.
Currently, I copy from Excel with CTRL-C and paste it as an Excel Worksheet
Object, as it seems to scale well (I need to have all charts to have the same
size in inches). Is there a better way to do it?
And just in case Excel is not the culprit, could auto-save be contributing
to the problem? How about fast saves? I did not see a way to enable/disable
them in Word 2007.
