Word 2007 Open Menu

I'm using Word 2007. Some of my PCs have WinXP SP2, some have SP3. On
the Open menu I have the view set to Details. I see four columns: Name,
Size, Type, Date Modified.

I want to permanently get rid of the Type column. So I right-click on the
Type column heading and I un-check Type and the column disappears - for
the remainder of this Word session. But, the Type column is back the next
time I use Word. That setting doesn't get saved between Word sessions.

I have tried exiting Word using the red X in the upper right of the
screen. I have tried Exit Word on the Office Menu. Either way this
setting does not get saved between sessions.

This is happening on all of my PCs and, now that I think of it, the same
thing happened with Word 2003 on all of my PCs.

So, how can I get Word to save this setting (don't show the Type column on
the Open menu) between sessions?
