Word 2008 file error

I continue to get the same message...A file error occurred. Check your network connections or make sure the disk is properly inserted and not defective. (Normal.dotm) I have reinstalled office twice and continue to get this issue in Word.

Any help????

What are you doing when this error comes up? Launching, opening a file?
What happens after you hit OK to the error?

Also, state version of Word and OS.

Without such details, it's unlikely that anyone can help.

I am having the same problem with a Professor's computer. He is running Tiger
on an Intel iMac. It's just with word too, whenever you go in and quit word,
that error message pops up. I'm sure it has something to do with word not
having permission to write to the folder where the Normal.dotm template
should be, but I can't get it to change to the right permissions......

help?

Sorry, guys...

We can't answer this question without all the version info...

Yes, I am having the same problem running Office 2008 with latest patch and
Mac OS X 10.5.2 Specifically, the error says: "A file error has occurred.
Check your network connections or make sure the disk is properly inserted and
not defective. (Normal.dotm)".

I found the solution by setting the file locations under "Word". then
"Preferences". Then turn off the .MAC "iMac" network drive.

Good luck, hope this helps someone!

Hi dea,

I'd like to be able to pass your solution on, but I don't understand
what you did. What did you change in File Locations?

By .MAC "iMac" network drive, I assume you mean the iDisk mounted on
your desktop. You just ejected it?
