word and xp generally

I have had nothing but drama since re-installing my
office xp pro and windows xp! My puter justs shuts down
in the middle of cd burning, it hangs in all programs and
generally tells me to insert cd for nothing can anybody
please help with my problems please. Thanks, Kath

Hi Kath,

For the Office XP problems, I would recommend that you
a) Run a repair of Office XP
b) To stop the request for CD, you can set Office XP to "Run All from my
Computer"

To see what may be causing the hanging in all programs, try the following:
MSCONFIG Items:

Click on Start and then on Run.
In the Open box, type in the following: "msconfig" (without the quotes) and
press enter.
The System Configuration Utility will appear.
Click on the Startup tab
Uncheck all of the items in this list
Click Apply and then OK
You should now be prompted to restart your machine, do this.
Once the machine has restarted, test Word to see if the same problem occurs.
If not, go back to Msconfig, click on the Startup tab and insert a check for
the first item in this list. Click Apply and Ok and restart the machine.
Test to see if the problem occurs.
If not, continue to add the checks one at a time, restarting the machine and
testing each time.
As soon as the problem starts to reoccur, the last item checked was the one
causing this problem.
