word art in word '97'

I have created some words in word art but would like to save them as
either a gif or jpeg for use in some of my other programs and email.
Can anyone tell me how to do this? I have asked directly through
Microsoft, including their communities but no one has had the courtesy
to answer

If you have Word 2000 or above, save the document as a Web page. The
graphics (including WordArt objects) will be saved out as separate GIFs or

Another option is to copy/paste in to MS Paint and save as a graphic file.
