I have a powerpoint presentation and I want to insert information from a word
document, but do not want the word document to be formatted as a slide. I
would like to be able to show it while doing my presentation. Thank you

You can create an action button in PowerPoint which hyperlinks to the word
document.
To do so, create a folder.
Move the ppt and word doc to the folder.
Open the ppt file and create an action button or a "Click to view doc" text.
Right click on the text, select Action Settings.
Select Hyperlink to:.
Select Other file... and browse for the word document.
Click OK.
By doing so, it will bring up the word document during slide show mode.

Another way is to insert it as an object.
To do so, click Insert > Object.
Select Create from file.
Browse for the word doc.

See if that is what you want.
