Word Doc that I want ppl to fill in, but i do not want the lines to move

I have a word document that I have created with underlines example:

Name: _________________
Address: ____________________

I want people to be able to type in their name without moving the line over and under any. I have tried using the form fields but had no success. Someone please help, thanks!

It is if you put these fields in a simple table. The first part of the link
talked about creating line borders using cells in tables. For instance,
place your cursor at a point where you want the info, click "Table", "Insert
table", select a two-row, two-column table. Size the table columns as
necessary. Turn on the "Tables and Borders" toolbar (View, Toolbars),
highlight your table, click the "Borders" icon dropdown arrow and select the
"No Border" option. If you can't see the gridlines of the table cells,
click "Table", "Show gridlines". Type the "Name:" and "Address:" labels in
the first column. Click in the first row, second column and click the
"Borders" dropdown arrow and select the "Bottom border'. Repeat for the
bottom row. If you want to move around your various cells independent of
other cells in the column, click at the bottom left-hand side of a cell to
select the cell, then drag the column divider as necessary.

I have created the form thanks to the MVP! but i have one more question, I tried to put a form field check box in but I cannot get people to fill in and check the box without changing the protection of the file. Is there anyway I can change this or to transfer it over to Acrobat? Thanks!

The only way the check box works is with the form protected. Why would you
want to change the protection? It should stay protected so the user can
only fill out what you want him/her to. If you have Word 2002 or 2003 you
can now click the lock on the Forms toolbar to unprotect a form, make
changes, then click back on the lock without losing the formfield data.
However, if you use the "Tools" menu, you WILL lose info. Unfortunately, in
2000 or 97 you still lose data using the lock.

you can actually protect sections of a document by insertin continuou
sections breaks.. so ifyou have a couple lines with check boxes.. yo
can isert section breaks before/after, then goto tools/protect/section
and choose section 2 to protect.. there is no other way to get for
fields to work without protecting document
