Word & Excel cannot open files

Hi,
After Updating the norton Antivirus Corp version, My
Word and Excel 2002 cannot open any files in any formats
they support. They can creat file, but not able to read
them. The files they created are fine.

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I had a similar problem with Office 2000. Everything "locked" with the
words "Scanning for Virus" on the bottom of the Excel.

My guess is that it is a Norton AV problem of some sort.

Check their web site and see what you can find.

My ultimate solution was to uninstall all of the Norton stuff and reinstall
it. There may be an easier way.

Go to Symantec.com. Search for EXCEL and SLOW. Discussion about some sort
of problem with VeriSign.

Hi Chi,

In Norton go to Options and in the Miscellaneous section turn off
"Enable Office Plug-in"
