Word, Home Network and Networking

I have a home network using Linksys wireless router/hub. Additionally I use as a default printer a printer connected to a desktop on the network. Everytime I open a word document, the network starts sending and receiving unknown data and the word document takes forever to open. If I disable the network card, and remain disconnected from the network, the document opens almost immediately.

Is this a Linksys issue? Print Driver Issue? Word Issue on a home network?

Help!

FIX found!

It was a print driver issue. Once I updated the printer driver, it apppears to have fixed the problem.
