Word, PowerPoint, and formatted text

First off, I wasn't sure which forum to post this in--Word Programming or
Powerpoint--so apologies if I chose the wrong one. Since a Word document is
my final destination, I opted for this forum.

I'm wondering if there's a way I can copy the text and its associated
formatting from a PowerPoint slide and paste it into Word.

I'm currently doing something similar by examining each shape on each
PowerPoint slide and eventually pasting what I find into Word, but it's only
the text, without any formatting attached.
