Wordart in Publisher problem

When using wordart on a blank publication and I insert
text in the wordart frame.
When I return to the blank publication the text does not
appear and the frame appears as an envelope shape.
The text is replaced by a cross of dashed lines within
the frame outline.

Try View > Picture Display > Detailed Display > OK
