words repeat next to pictures

Ok...thought I had this figured out, but didn't. I'm revising a book I
wrote, for a reprint. Using Word 08, originally wrote this in Word 04
(Mac). Works fine except for text next to pictures that I have
inserted. Next to several pictures several words in the text repeats
itself. I type, "John and Jane walked their dog home." If it's next to
a picture of John and Jane, it will say, "John and Jane walked and
Jane walked their dog home." I will correct it, go to the next page,
then return and the mistake has reappeared. I thought the problem was
in the conversion to 08, so I opened an 04 document, pasted the text
in and it worked, for awhile. Now it's doing it again. Tried
downloading Open Office and pasting it in it. Same trouble there. Any
ideas??

This is maddening. Now I will get the text apparently right, with no
apparent repetitions, and save it as a .pdf document. The Word 94
document will be fine, but the .pdf copy will show words repeated next
to graphics. Frustrated that I've gotten no response to this. Am I the
first to have this problem?
