Working with ActiveX on Mac

R

RickGreg

I am helping a pc-based client with a presentation. They have embedded a
video clip with macros, and when I open the file I get a warning that some
controls could not be activated because PPT does not support ActiveX.

I am working with PPT 11.5.5. This presentation will ultimately run on a
Windows machine (not sure of version).

IS there a plugin or something that will allow me to work with the Activex
controls?

Thanks

As far as I know, the answer is no. You'll have to run it on Windows.

Thanks David,

But our client confirmed that it is working fine in some other MAC machine. I think there might be some other solution.

Do you think that reinstalling Adobe Pro 9 will work? Or any patch is available from microsoft to resolve this issue?

I guess I can't be of help then. I am fairly certain that ActiveX has
never worked on Macs. Perhaps, the message is a red herring. It might be
telling you that it is an Active X problem when it is something else.
For example, PowerPoint 2008 doesn't have VBA so trying to run something
with VBA in PowerPoint 2008 won't work while it might work in PowerPoint
2004 (or 2001 or X or 98), but I think the error in 2008 is pretty clear
that it is a VBA problem.

A short history of Active-X

To the best of my knowledge no individual or organization has taken up
the challenge to port Active-X, which is open source, to the Mac.
