workload reports

I have problem to print workload report only for summary tasks showing work
(hours) used per each summary task for particular month.

If I select option in workload reports, task usage, row:tasks, filter: all
tasks, it shows me report with no problem. But If I select filter summary
tasks, it shows me in the report 0hours for each summary task. And also I do
not know, if it is possible to exclude from the report the tasks, that have
zero value in a particular month.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Marcela,
If you look closely at the built-in Task Usage Workload report, the
hours are not shown at the summary level even when the "all tasks"
filter is applied. Why? I have no idea but its part of the reason I
don't find the built-in reports very useful.

If instead of trying to use a built-in report, just use the Task Usage
view. It will give the same information except that Work data WILL be
shown for summary lines and consequently you will see non-zero data when
the "Summary Tasks" filter is applied.

With regard to excluding timeframes (i.e. days, weeks, months, etc) with
zero data, sorry, that is not possible unless VBA is used to generate a
custom report by exporting the data to another application such as Excel.

Hope this helps.

John,
Thank you for your prompt answer.
So, the only way for me to customize the report I need is to learn VBA to be
able to export the data to Excel?

Marcela

Marcela,
Well not necessarily. If you can live with the report showing zero
values for some months then all you need to do is to print the Task
Usage view as your report. On the other hand if you really have your
heart set on eliminating the zero valued months then yes, you will need
to learn VBA or hire someone who can write the necessary macro for you.
