Wrap/Picture/Copy Text/Background

Hello I have a few questions:
1. Is there a version of Publisher that had NO Text Wrap in the Picture
Toolbar?
2. Is it possible to send a picture back or forward in Publisher as there
is in Words Drawing Toolbar? Did any version of Publisher have a Drawing
Toolbar like Word?
3. When copying text from the internet, sometimes the text can be inserted
in an existing empty Text Box (like in a brochure template) and other times
it creates it's own Text Box outside in the Work Area. Why?
4. When inserting ClipArt, is there any way to change the background of the
ClipArt's box to show the background color?

Thanks for your help!

1. Near as I can remember there has been text wrap in all versions.
2. Yes, all versions of Publisher has a drawing toolbar of sorts. Publisher is, after
all, a page layout application.
3. When you copy text from the Internet, many times the table the text is in will
come along. If you put your cursor in a created text box and paste special you can
select unformatted text.
4. Select the clipart (.wmf), ungroup, you can recolor any segment of the object. If
it is a bitmap, select the transparency tool, click the background.

Did I pass the test????

Thank you Mary. On question #2 I thought there was a Drawing Toolbar like
Words (located at bottom) with the Draw command in it? I'm I seeing things
in Publisher?

Hi -

I can only speak concerning Publisher 2000 and 2002 at the moment

1. Is there a version of Publisher that had NO Text Wrap in the Picture
Toolbar?

2002 - you can customize the toolbars - there is a "through" option and a
"none" option (among the several little dog icons)

2. Is it possible to send a picture back or forward in Publisher as there
is in Words Drawing Toolbar? Did any version of Publisher have a Drawing
Toolbar like Word?

2000 - make sure "standard" toolbar is checked in "view" > "toolbars"
If you click-on a picture (and you have at least 2 items on your page), 2
icons that look like 3 overlapping squares should appear in the toolbar -
click on the one and the item goes to the back, click on the other and the
item comes to the front

2002 - has more toolbar options (and you really have to go in and customize
each to get the icons you want to appear- try clicking on the pulldown menu
at the end of each toolbar and "add or remove buttons" after you have turned
on the toolbars in "View")
You can set it so the "Send-to-Back" and or "bring-to-front" icons appear
in the object toolbar when an item is selected.

3. When copying text from the internet, sometimes the text can be inserted
in an existing empty Text Box (like in a brochure template) and other times
it creates it's own Text Box outside in the Work Area. Why?

2000 - Where is your cursor when you paste? If you have clicked in a
textbox, it will paste into that text box. If you click on the scratch area
or on the page, but not in a textbox, it will paste its own text box.

2002 - experiment with what you "paste as" -- (just plain pasting or
"control +v" pasting can give strange results)

4. When inserting ClipArt, is there any way to change the background of the
ClipArt's box to show the background color?

2000 - Try "no-fill" (depends on the graphic) generally not very reliable

2002 - On the "picture" toolbar, click on the "set transparent color" icon
("magic wand") - and touch it to the ONE color you want gone in your picture
(know it works with Tiffs and jpgs) --- (I do everything in 2000 and send it
to 2002 just to do this!)

Hope some of this works for you.

M.
