xp/vista incompatability?

I created several pub files using office 2007. I pasted in multiple Word docs
created with two computers, one using XP, the other using Vista. The files
using docs from both computers will not open ("publisher cannot open this
file" error). I ran a test with 6 Word docs created on XP pasted into a
publisher file, opened closed it with Vista computer, no problem. Pasted 1
Word doc created on Vista into the same file then closed and tried to reopen
document but got the aformentioned error message. I tried the registry fixes
Mary Sauer suggested but no results. Thumbnails of unopenable pub docs are
showing fine in Publisher Recent Publications, just can't the ones that
contain both XP and Vista Word docs.

I cannot duplicate your problem. Check your add-ins, especially those in Word.

If you right-click a text box, change text, text file and browse to a Word file,
save. Can you open the file? Or if you go File, Import Word document?

Is the issue only with the paste command?

It would be interesting to know if this is why other users are getting this
error.

Perhaps there is a problem with the paste command. I can create separate
files for everything and use the insert text file command; very laborious,
but i'll give it a whack. I never had a problem with Pub 2000(6 years, full
time) so I might have to uninstall 2007(which I just installed 2 weeks ago)
on one of my computers and start all over again (about 4 weeks work. Errr!).
Before I do that, can you think of any way I can salvage/open these files?
I changed the registry but it won't give me the prompt to open the files even
though they may be corrupt. I'd gladly accept that. I just need to open them
so I can print them. The error # is 1100009. Thanks

I assume this is the KB article to which you are referring:
Error message when you try to open a publication in Publisher: "Publisher cannot
open the file" or "Publisher has detected a problem"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928890/en-us

Can you send me one of the files? If I can open it I will save it as a 2000
document and send it back.
