2003 Front Page photo errors

I am redoing my website in Front Page 2003. I have used the web component
feature to redo the photo page. I took the photo's that were already on the
webpage, and added them to web components to make a slide show and use the
thumbnail capability. Everything looks good in the design page, and when I
check it in multiple browsers, but when I look at it on the actual website,
the pictures are all missing. Hovering over the boxes gives the caption, but
not the picture. What am I doing wrong? My pictures are in a separate
folder within the website, and I also tried to copy them to the photogallery
folder itself, and neither works.

On the design page, about 6 thumbnail photos show up with an arrow on each
side for scrolling. On the actual web page, all the thumbnails are in a row
and you need to use the bottom slider to get to the end of the long row and
then the back arrow. Any way to fix that? I am sure a lot of people aren't
aware of the slide bars.

PS. I do not know how to use html code at all.

Did you open the web prior to adding the pictures to the page? If not, the
image links are pointing to your local computer's hard drive.

I opened the web page, minimized it, opened Front Page and added another
picture to the web component wizard, saved it, uploaded it using FTP, and
then refreshed the web page. The new box and caption appeared but not the
picture.

You didn't answer my question:

In other words, did you open the web and open the page, or did you just open
the page?

I'm afraid you STILL haven't answered my question. Did you open the web it
(the page) is in before you opened the page?

I guess I need to get the terminology right ( this is the first web site I
have ever worked on). I went on the Internet, put in the address of the
website I am working on, and it opened to the index (main) page. I clicked
on the link on that page that takes me to the photo page and then opened
that page. There I can see the empty frames where the photos should be. If
I hover the mouse over the box, the caption I wrote is visible.

If this doesn't answer your question, could you please explain what you mean
by the "web". I thought that is the same as a web site. .

Did you create a web site in FrontPage before building pages?

Do you open your web on your local computer with File | Open Site?

Did your work on your local web on your local pc before publishing to your
host server?

Whew! this is tough! I inherited a completed website. I am currently
updating the information on the web site and have been able to change
information on my pc and ftp it to the server and have had no problems.
There was an existing page with photo's that I am trying to change into a
slide show using the web components wizard. I opened web components on my pc
on the page that I intend to add the pictures to, and took all the existing
photos that were on the web site and added them to the dialog box in web
component wizard. I then uploaded them to the server using FTP. When I
checked the website, only red checks appeared. I then tried to add just a
picture not using the web component wizard and that worked. I am able to
see that picture on the internet web site. I must be doing something wrong
with the wizard.

When using FP components using the FP server extensions, you can not FTP.
You must http publish, or the FP extensions will be corrupted, and the
components will not work.

You need to contact your remote host and have them repair/or install the FP
server extensions, then you need to http publish the site.
