99% on Discrete Tasks

Project 2003 question...

My project lead has changed tasks within his schedule to 100% in the %
Complete field. However, when he changes the Status Date to a new date some
discrete tasks are changing back to 99% in the % Complete and removing Actual
Finish dates automatically. I checked remaining duration and assignment work
but no hours are past the specified date. Can anybody give me a clue why the
% Complete is reverting back to 99%???

Thanks!

Hi Roland,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Are you sure there isn't a milestone lurking that hasn't been set at 100%?

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

No. I've checked all the tasks and they are all 100% when I save the
schedule. The next day some of the tasks are back to 99%. Reason why I am
so confounded!

Thanks. Roland

Is there a filter on so that some tasks are not shown? Or has the sort
order been changed or a group applied?

What Version of Project? 2003 should now be at SP3.

Rod,

We experience this same sort of 'conversion' back to 99% - on occasion
it is due to a resource adding more hours to a task - but other times
we have no idea why the 100% complete is no long 100% complete.

Could you please educate me on what fix is in SP3 for 2003 users that
fixes this? i.e., i would like to find the article in the Microsoft
Knowledge database to understand more thoroughly.

thx...jlg

We are on 2003 / SP3.

I finally got the task to stay at 100% when I went into each individual
resource for the task and zeroed out the remaining work in each. Each
resource showed 0h remaining previous to the update. So, it seems as if
there is some residual % of hours not being shown but Project thinks some
work is still there.
