_vti_cnf folder?

Recently when I start my computer this folder _vti_cnf opens. I don't know
why or even what it was, so I typed it in Google and it says it's somthing to
do with FP.

How can I stop it from opening when I turn on my computer and do I need it?
Thanks

The folder is related to FP, but FP is most likely not the culprit here.

What I would guess is that it was drag-n-dropped into the Start-Up folder-
you can use >Start >Programs >Start Up to see if it is there and whatelse is
in there. If that is not what happened, try using >Start >Run >MSConfig-
look at the startup group items and it will most likely be there

When you say appears - how does it appear? Does Explorer open and you see
(what) in the address bar? What OS are you using?

Well, lets do this in MSConfig

On the General Tab, choose Selective Startup, and remove the checkmark for
the StartUp group. Restart. If it is gone, there is something in that
startup group controlling it

This may happen if the Registry contains an invalid link to a file in
the folder.
Run regedit and search for _vti_cnf. See if one of the found filepaths
are invalid. If you find one delete it.
Warning do NOT delete anything else. Doing so may mean that your
Computer no longer works.
