Adding a column of custom information

hi there,
I am doing the customization of project. I want to know the exact process
that takes place when we insert a custom field to task or resource , we see a
new column getting inserted on the rightmost end. I want to know where the
entries are made in the database,the table associated with it.

Inserting a column does not really insert a column. All of the columns
(fields) are already defined. All that insert does is to display them. The
location of the fields in the database is described in the document titled
pjdb.htm or projdb.htm (name depends on the version you are using) which can
be found on the project cd or the computer you have project installed on.
