Adding New Contact Causes Outlook to Freeze

When adding a new contact name and telephone number into Outlook 2003,
Outlook freezes up and forces the user to close it out. When Outlook is
reopened, the contact is not saved. The user has approximately 950
contacts, so I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it freezing.
Please let me know if anyone has any advice.

The number of Contacts would have nothing to do with this. Outlook version
and the steps that were used to produce the problem would have everything to
do with this. The problem cannot be addressed without at least some
information. Include error messages and Event viewer information.
