Address Book Cannot be Displayed.

I have just install Office XP on my notebook computer. I wanted to replace
the Outlook address book with the one I use with Outlook on my desktop
computer. So I replaced the Outlook folder in Documents and Settings with a
copy of the Outlook folder from the desktop computer. After doing that I got
the following message when I tried to open the address book from the
toolbar:

"The address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or
deleted, or you do not have permissions. For more information on how to
remove this folder from the outlook address book, see Microsoft Help."

I have tried many approaches to resolve the problem including un-installing
Office XP, deleting the Outlook folder in Documents and Settings, deleting
files from the Outlook folder in My Programs, and then re-installing Office
XP. After doing this, I still get the same error message.

Any suggestions?

Remove all the Contact folders listed here: Tools menu > Email accounts >
Change existing address books > Click Next > Highlight Outlook Address Book
Click Change

Once that's done, right click on your Contact folder, choose Properties, go
to the Outlook Address Book tab and check the "Show this folder as an email
address book" box

Vince,

I followed your instructions, and I am happy to say they worked.

Thank you for the good advice.

Had similar issue, followed this advice. Can access contact addresses,
however when I send email I get an email from System Administrator with
Undeliverable Email Message:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: test email
Sent: 25/08/2005 3:43 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
**** on 25/08/2005 3:43 PM
None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.

If I "manually" type the full email it will send, but if I try to send from
Contacts I get the undeliverable message.

Any thoughts?
