All Blacked Out???

When opening an existing *.pub file either thru Publisher or My Computer the
preview page is all black and you cannot see the publication. If you select
new it displays the proper white background. I don’t know when this problem
started but I have tried installing all the service packs for Office (now at
SP3). I have tried uninstalling Office Disk 2 and reinstalling. I have messed
with the color settings and resolutions. Again, when I click new file it
gives me the white background, but any existing Publisher file opens all
back. Please help I have looked everywhere.

Office 2000 with SP3 and the rest of the updates running on....
XP Home with SP2 and all updates.
