Scaled proportionately means that when the graphic was stretched to fit a
particular space, the height to width ration is not the same as the
original. Publisher picks up on that. This has nothing to do with the
resolution.
Try updating the video drivers in your laptop as well. It's a very common
issue. I was dumbfounded how quickly doing that corrected the glitches I
had
when I first started using Pub 2002.

Thanks, I don't know about design checker so I'll check that out in
Publisher.
Scaling graphics proportionately? It sounds like you might be
referring
to
something like "resample"? I'm familiar with that in Frontpage and
Word
but
have never seen it in Publisher. Can you explain further?
Now the video driver. I'm going to update it for sure just to take it
out
of the equation but I kind of doubt it since the same thing happened
when
I
transferred the files to my laptop. The pictures did not show on the
laptop
either.
Thanks
Catt
:
Got the file. All of your graphics are showing up but you do need to
run
Design Checker on this catalog. You have text hidden in overflow areas
in
several (as in MANY) places, several graphics weren't scaled
proportionately. I don't think any of these will have caused your
problem.
My suggestion would be to find a different video driver. I had some
weird
glitches when I first got Pub 2002 (missing borders, etc). I updated
my
video driver and everything's been fine since.

Thanks for the offer. I started to send one section but then
realized
its
10.4 megs for 16 pages so I cancelled it. So should I send you
just
maybe
the first 4 pages?
Catt
:
Catt,
Can you send the files to me? I have never had display problems
with
my
system. Let's find out whether it's the files or not.
If you want to take me up on my offer, send sample file(s) to jl
dot
paules
at gmail dot com.

So I copied the publisher documents on to a cd and installed
them
in
my
other
pc. Half of the documents cannot be viewed. By that I mean
the
pictures
and
boxes on all tables will not show. So I think this puts a pin
in
the
"display" theory balloon because the docs are in another pc.
From
research
this appears like its not a rare thing and has happened to
others.
Hopefully
someone might have an answer for this.......
thanks,Catt

Catt <
[email protected]> was very recently heard
to
utter:
All of a sudded my pictures and table borders, or any other
line
or
box, have disappeared from my publisher '02 documents.
They
are
stil
there because they print fine but I cannot view them. I
tried
going
to View-pictures and clicked on "detailed display", "fast
resize"
and
"hide" and tried saving the document and reopening but no
change.
I
rebooted just in case but no change. How can I get them
back?
Hi Catt,
This is almost certainly a problem with your video driver.
By going to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced >
Troubleshoot,
and
dragging the Hardware Acceleration slider down three notches,
you
will
be
able to disable Publisher from making the calls on the video
driver
that
cause this problem.
If this does fix your problem, it means that the problem does
indeed
lie
with the video driver. You can leave your computer running
at
this
lower
hardware acceleration, but it may cause problems with other
programs.
It
is
a better solution to try and find a driver update for your
graphics
card.
Normally, the latest drivers from the video card manufacturer
will
do
the
trick, but ATI (and recently Intel and Dell) tend to be
slower
in
perfecting
their drivers, so some newer ATI and Intel cards to not yet
have
drivers
available that do not exhibit this behaviour. The solution
here
is
to
nag
ATI/Intel/Dell for better drivers.
(Please note that even if your computer is brand new, you
won't
necessarily
have the latest drivers)
