Allocating Resources Between Two Different Projects

Marilyn Campos

I am currently working on 2 separate projects using Project 2003. They both
are using the same resources at the same time. I have shared the resource
pool between the 2 projects but, I am confused about how to appropriately
leverage overallocated time between the projects. I am afraid that if I try
to leverage time I will create problems for the entire projects by creating
delays. I have printed out the "Who Does What" report and the "Overallocated
Resources" which shows the tasks for each resource for each project on the
same page, but I do not understand them. I am expected to provide a solution
to upper level executives tomorrow morning. I am getting frustrated and
bewildered.

Hi,

Step 1 is to get agreement on the hours per week each project can have of
each resource. In each project View the Resource Usage view and change the
timescale to weekly. Now edit assignments until you match the hours per week
each resource has.

Has a help select Window, Split then select the lower pane and select the
Gantt chart. With Usage View in the top pane, click on a resource's name and
the resource's tasks appear in the Gantt in the lower pane.

Good luck!

Hi Rod,

Thank you very much for your assistance. I am truely grateful. Would it
be better if I combine the 2 separate projects on to one sheet and edit the
assignments from there?

Best, Marilyn
