Alternatives to visio timelines

We use Visio - only for timelines. Visio works great but we have problems
getting everybody to make timelines that look the same. Same length, width,
font, noe more than 10 milestone instead of 50. What I'd like to do is give
people a web page that lets them type in a date and some milestone text and
then have the timeline be generated automatically. The timeline doesnot's
need to be in Visio but I do like the way they look in Visio. Does anybody
know of a way to get what I need? Maybe there's a way to do a timeline in
Excel or some other program or maybe there's some off-the-shelf timeline
software.

Yes, but what we need is something very simple that can get it's input from
a very simple web page.
Project (heck, Word) is too complicated for these users.

Maybe you can achieve what you want by driving Visio from an active server
page (ASP). Have any VB programmers at your location?

We've got me. A non-programmer. But, I have enough skill to get dates and
milestone text enter into a web page front end to a database into something
else that can read a database or flat file to generate a timeline. I just
don't know of a product that'll do that.

Can you point me to a web page or something that explains what you're
talking about?
Thanks

I really need something (free) that I can add to a web page that I'm
writing. Or some way to hook a Microsoft Office app into a web page.

I just peaked at their website, they have a low end product for $49 and a
high end product for only $219. Not really budget-breaking prices. You won't
find what you are looking for in any Microsoft software except perhaps
Microsoft Project and this would be overkill for your needs. It might be
worth talking to Kidasa just to see if their software can do what you want.
